Farms from nine Spanish regions compete in the 2025 Porc d’Or Awards
25th September 2025 - News
The Spanish pig sector is preparing for one of its major annual events. On October 24, the Lleida Trade Fair Congress Center (Palau de Congressos de la Llotja) will host the 32nd edition of the Porc d’Or Awards, an event that annually recognizes the excellence of pig farms across the country.
Following the analysis of BDporc data and the jury’s deliberation, the nominees have now been announced. A total of 99 farms from nine autonomous communities will compete for the 43 awards in various technical categories and special prizes.
Galicia, Aragon, and Catalonia lead the way
The autonomous community with the highest number of nominations is Galicia, with a total of 38 nominations distributed across 27 farms, mainly in the provinces of A Coruña, Pontevedra, and Ourense. It is followed by Aragon, with 33 nominations for 26 farms, particularly concentrated in the provinces of Huesca and Zaragoza. In third place is Catalonia, with 19 nominations for 17 farms, spread across the region.
Other notable communities include Navarra with 6 nominations, Andalusia with 4, and Castilla-La Mancha with 2.
Beyond Technical Results
The Porc d’Or Awards do not only evaluate parameters such as longevity, litter rates, or numerical productivity. They also focus on key areas for the future of the sector, including animal welfare, sustainability, and overall health. For this reason, alongside the gold, silver, and bronze statuettes, the three special awards will be presented again:
- Porc d’Or Diamond, awarded to the farm with the most outstanding overall performance.
- Porc d’Or MAPA for Sustainability, granted by the Ministry of Agriculture.
- Porc d’Or One Health, promoted by Ceva Animal Health.
Nominees for the Porc d’Or Diamond include Granja Valfarta (Huesca), Ponte Coirós de Coren (A Coruña), and SAT 4835 Urra-Zurucuain from Piensos Costa (Navarra).
Farms competing for the Sustainability Award are Cerdos de Lujo from Piensos Costa (Zaragoza), El Cerruco from Agrocesa – Vall Companys (Soria), and Hidalgo Navarro Ganadera from Piensos Costa (Huesca).
Finally, the finalists for the Porc d’Or One Health Award are Agrorozas (Pontevedra), Laguarres – Agropecuaria del Isábena (Huesca), and Pork Calanda (Teruel).
Over the coming weeks, jury members will personally visit the finalist farms to closely assess their practices and ensure a fair and verified selection.
A Well-Established Event
With more than three decades of history, the Porc d’Or Awards have become a prestigious benchmark in pig farming. Year after year, the gala provides a platform to showcase farm work, promote innovation, and recognize the professionalism of those who make Spanish pork an international reference.
Rotecna, as a sponsor of this edition, reaffirms its commitment to the pig sector, supporting key events that highlight the effort and excellence of producers and professionals.
